Copperline is a plumbing referral service in Calgary, Alberta. We are two people. We are not a plumbing company and we do not perform plumbing work.
This page explains what we do with your information. It is short because what we do is simple.
What we collect
When you call or text us, we ask for:
- your name
- your phone number
- the part of Calgary you're in
- a description of the plumbing problem
Our phone service also keeps a record of the call or text itself, including your phone number and the time.
We do not ask for your address, your email, payment details, or anything else. If you volunteer more, we only keep what we need to pass on your request.
Why we collect it
To find you a plumbing contractor and introduce you to them, and to keep a record of what we did in case a question comes up later about the referral.
Who we share it with
One plumbing contractor, and only after we ask you and you say yes.
Before we share anything, we tell you which business we're proposing to share it with, and we ask your permission. If you say no, we don't share it. If you don't answer, we don't share it.
When we call a contractor to check whether they're free, we describe only the type of job and the broad area of the city. We don't give them your name, your street or your number until you've agreed.
We're paid by the plumber for the introduction, not for your information. We don't give your details to anyone else and we don't add you to a mailing list. We only introduce you to one contractor at a time. If that doesn't work out and you want another introduction, we ask your permission again first.
Once you're introduced to a contractor, your dealings with them are between you and them, and their own privacy practices apply.
Where it's kept
Your information is held in our phone service, our email, and a private spreadsheet only the two of us can open.
These are run by companies based outside Canada, so your information may be stored on their servers abroad and may be accessible to authorities there under local law.
How long we keep it
Twelve months, then we delete it.
We keep it that long so we can sort out a billing question with a contractor if one comes up. After that it's of no use to us.
The website
This website uses Google's advertising tag. It sets a cookie in your browser and tells Google when someone arrives here from one of our ads, so we can see whether the advertising is working.
What reaches us is numbers, not names. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy, and what Google does with it is governed by that policy rather than this one.
You can block cookies in your browser settings and the call button will still work.
Your choices
You can:
- ask us what information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it
- ask us to delete it
- tell us not to share it with a contractor, or change your mind after you've agreed
Email [email protected] or call 587-333-8530 and we'll do it.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
